Environmental/Carbon expert – Senior Consultant in Sustainability

Mazars Bulgaria is experiencing exciting growth and we have various opportunities for talented and high performing individuals to be based in the Sofia office given the opportunities arising from sustainability-related challenges.

At present we are seeking to recruit additional talent into our Sustainability team to help and developing comprehensive and relevant sustainability solutions and services.

The ideal candidate must have at least 4 years of experience in corporate sustainability with focus on environmental topics. He or she will get to work alongside financial consultants and non-financial reporting experts and would contribute to the team’s capacity to deliver complete Sustainability consulting and assurance projects.

The Sustainability practice will offer a variety of services integral to helping firms develop comprehensive leading ESG strategies and processes. It will prepare firms to comply with the new European and global regulations and allow them to be the industry leaders of tomorrow. Mazars leverages its vast pool of experts in all areas necessary to create a mature and thorough ESG strategy. Firms will be able to manage and identify ESG risks and opportunities, design and execute ESG and Sustainability strategies. Mazars ESG Sustainability advisory will help firms with financial, regulatory, political, and commercial perspectives to create the correct unique path for each firm.

Responsibilities:

• Screen regulatory and industry developments around sustainability-related topics to aid client conversations, equip the wider team, grow expertise, anticipate regulatory developments, identify opportunities, and produce material to will increase Mazars visibility in the space
• Work with the leadership team to develop our service offering and contribute to marketing activities towards external and internal stakeholders
• Develop and improve specialized skills and knowledge focused on the environmental aspect of Sustainability within the team
• Be part of the Engagement Team on clients’ projects and ensure timely delivery of high-quality consulting services
• Identify likely issues and risks that could impact delivery and call upon on Mazars network support as required
• Prepare client proposals
• Mentor, coach and develop more junior staff

Past experience should include:

• Relevant experience in environmental consulting/audit
• Conducting structured information gathering, research and analysis to provide relevant recommendations for enhancing current arrangements
• Structuring, planning, and managing the execution of deliverables
• Preparing, facilitating, documenting, and actively participating in meetings and workshops
• Creating high quality presentations and reports to effectively communicate findings and conclusions

Desirable skills:

• Demonstrated interest and preferably experience in sustainability, carbon emissions calculations, EU Taxonomy reporting, climate change strategy development, climate scenario analysis, stakeholder engagement and change management
• Practical knowledge of relevant EU regulations
• Understanding of ESG-related data landscape

Educational / Professional Qualifications

• 4-5+ years of relevant environmental services and/or management consulting experience
• University Degree with a relevant environmental, energy, business, finance, or technology major, or must have a strong and passionate interest in sustainability-related disciplines
• Professional certifications in sustainable finance and climate risk are considered as an asset (e.g., GHG protocol, TCFD, SCR, CCI, ESG Investing or other)
